Tax March: President Biden’s Proposed Budget is “A Change That is Long Overdue”
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, the White House released President Biden’s FY22 budget proposal, including $6 trillion in spending, doubling down on the priorities laid out in his American Jobs Plan and the American Families Plan. Together, they represent sorely needed investments in the people, and progress toward a fairer tax code where big corporations and the ultra rich pay their fair share.
Tax March Executive Director Maura Quint commented:
“After 40 years of failed trickle-down economic policies, President Biden’s budget represents a change that is long overdue. This budget will help us recover from the pandemic, create millions of good-paying jobs and make the American economy more competitive well into the future. Just as important, it will raise taxes on big corporations and the ultra rich who hoard wealth while so many Americans live paycheck to paycheck. Taxing the rich helps our economic future. When we tax the wealthiest, we prevent individuals from amassing too much power, thereby fundamentally protecting the future of our democracy.
“This past year has proven that we need to change our economic system, and this budget marks a major step toward that change. Congress should heed this plan and enact these priorities to ensure the rich pay their fair share and we level the playing field for all Americans.”
