Trump’s 2021 Budget Tells the Truth About His Priorities: Tax Cuts for the Wealthy, Gutting Social Safety Net for the Rest of Us
Budget Demands Cuts to Medicaid and Decade-Long Extension of Trump Tax Cuts
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, President Trump released his 2021 budget proposal, which includes a decade-long extension of his tax cuts for the wealthy, paid for by slashing $2 trillion from social safety net programs.
The following statement is from Tax March Campaign Director Dana Bye:
“The president’s budget proposal represents his wishlist for the year ahead, and the president wishes for little more than to fund his $1.4 trillion in tax cuts with major cuts to benefits the American people have earned. With its 2021 budget, the Trump administration has demonstrated how disconnected it is from the needs of working people and the economy as a whole.
Apparently, the administration’s concerns about balancing the budget don’t apply to tax cuts for the wealthy, but they’re more than willing to wring their hands about fiscal responsibility if it gives them an opportunity to propose $2 trillion in cuts to Social Security, Medicaid, and Medicare.”
